I’m gearing up for an intense year of clay working and I thought I could use some inspiration.  So, I’ve ordered (and been gifted) some really wonderful Ceramics books!

I especially love the ones by Robin Hopper, which were a birthday present from my fantastic father.

  • Handbuilt Ceramics: Pinching * Coiling * Extruding * Molding * Slip Casting * Slab Work by Kathy Triplett
  • The Essential Guide to Mold Making & Slip Casting by Andrew Martin
  • The Complete Guide to High-Fire Glazes: Glazing & Firing at Cone 10 by John Britt
  • Image Transfer on Clay: Screen, Relief, Decal & Monoprint Techniques by Paul Andrew Wandless
  • The Ceramic Spectrum by Robin Hopper
  • Functional Pottery: Form and Aesthetic in Pots of Purpose by Robin Hopper
  • Making Marks: Discovering The Ceramic Surface by Robin Hopper

Akron Ohio, I love you- but you bring me down... →

Akron Mother charged with Felony and over $30k fine for trying to get her children a better education!

To all my lovely friends in Ohio: Please take the time to write to your elected officials, ESPECIALLY IN AKRON where this happened, and let them know that this is not what you support. Akron has more important things to do with your tax dollars than prosecute a woman who wants a better, safer education for her children.

Even in 20 degree weather, an amazing Diner like Toms in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn and a beautiful present can make you feel like a warm spring day!

As an anniversary gift from my wonderful boyfriend, I recently received this bird necklace made by Figs & Ginger! One of my favorite jewelry companies. It’s run by a husband and wife and they’re very environmentally friendly! Their stuff is simply adorable and smile inspiring.

Tip: For the past two years they’ve been giving away free jewelry to everyone who plants a tree for Earth Day!  So remember to check back with them in April.

Amazing idea! Found on Apartment Therapy Boston. I may want to use a clear plastic vinyl shoe organizer (must poke tiny holes for water to drain)  and place it in front of my kitchen window on a movable bar that can swing out of the window when more light for the room is needed. I’ll also  need a draining pan for the water that won’t look like trash on the floor.
